Music Instructors
Gwendolyn Floyd
Gwen was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia and but now is a Vancouverite who loves music and working with children. She has a degree in elementary education from Mount St. Vincent University, and a degree in music from Dalhousie University, both in Halifax. Until the birth of her son in March 2005, Gwen worked as an elementary school teacher in both the public and private school systems. She has also taught music both in Nova Scotia and in West Vancouver, and recognizes the essential role that music plays in learning. She will soon be licensed to teach Kindermusik, a program dedicated to music education for children from birth to seven years old. She is also a volunteer with the Girl Guides of Canada as a Guide Leader and has been a Pathfinder Leader and Music Advisor both here in Vancouver and in Halifax.
Gwen has one child, a son who has been taking music classes since he was 3 months old. His love of music is a joy to watch. It has been this, more than anything, that has made her want to share that joy of music with other children and caregivers. She and her husband believe that a wide range of musical types is essential to their son's development.
